The Lake, the pool, supper club & a wedding - 28 & 29 weeks

The third trimester is upon us now and reality is truly setting in! We now have a spaghetti squash in utero and I am carrying around a 2.5 lb little life that's kicking and squirming all over the place - while there's room! So if the baby is only 2.5 pounds - where did the other 25 come from??? I know it's normal and I am tracking right on target for what I should be gaining but my changing body can be sort of unnerving!

Here's the breakdown of where the weight is going aside from the baby: Placenta - 1 1/2 lbs Amniotic Fluid - 2 lbs, Uterine Enlargement - 2 lbs, Breast Tissue Increase - 2 lbs, Maternal Blood Volume - 4 lbs, Fluids in Maternal Tissue - 4 lbs and the ever-so-lovely -  Maternal Fat Stores - 7 lbs.

HerHe is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. Muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and the head is growing bigger to make room for the developing brain. This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in our baby's hardening skeleton each day. If the baby cannot get it from proper nutrition HerHe will steal what it needs from me - so I have been having plenty of ice cream :-), yogurt, milk and cheese. I think I need to lay low on the ice cream though as I put on 6 pounds just in the last month (usually it's been 2-4).

We've been doing a lot since my energy is still at about 85%. We went to the lake last weekend for the Wilson's annual Summer Solstice party at at Lake Blue Ridge.

We had a blast as usual (even in my sober state!). The Treater's allowed us to crash at their place for the weekend although we had every intention of camping out.  But someone found a lovely black widow spider and we re-thought the camping idea. No need to over-complicate an otherwise easy pregnancy. Here are some pics that captured the amazing weekend of tubing, wakeboarding and lounging (for me)...

The little blondie is Finnegan - Kelly & Brian's little one - isn't he such a cutie! There were a ton of other kids up there as well which made the weekend so much fun and allowed to see are all-to-near future:)

We've also been taking advantage of our local Grant Park pool. It's less than a mile away and is the perfect place to get some gravity relief from the belly. Considering it's been in the 90's for the past 3 weeks - any H20 is welcome!

This weekend we went to our monthly supper club and it just so happened that our neighbors right next door were the hosts. It's such a great group of local new parent's - 4 or 5 couples that meet once a month. This month's Summer Italian menu included: Caprese Salad, Lemon Ice intermezzo, Crab & Artichoke ravioli, cannelloni bean salad and homemade cannoli's for dessert (oh and don't forget the 10 bottles of wine/prosecco). It was a great night had by all - singing & dancing to some great 80's tunes. Sister Christian and Journey we're definitely huge hits with all in attendance.

Sunday we went to a beautiful wedding for some folks who live around the corner - Louie and Tara - it was a great night - a tad warm - but in a gorgeous old mansion up on Peachtree St - Rhoades Hall. The three inch heels I chose were soon swapped out to flip flops as I had put too many hours out in the garden earlier in the day and my back was killing me! The grooms cake was great - should have thought of this one myself!

27 Weeks - Chicago, Charlie & Cauliflower

So we've had a busy few weeks! Week 24 - I started consulting with the American Cancer Society which is going great. I have a handful of projects that I'll be taking on while one of the women from Corporate Communications is out on Maternity Leave. They are mainly internal projects but it's really interesting moving to the Client side vs the fast-paced Agency life I am used to! Things move a lot slower here but it's good because I am moving A LOT slower these days with this big belly! I thought I would show it off this week...

Week 25 - We surprised Steve's sister Mary for her birthday in Chicago and had a long Memorial Day Holiday weekend (thanks IV for treating us to your Southwest miles for tickets!). Two out of three of Steve's brother's (Dave & Mike - below) were also able to make it so we had a huge Dojnik Family affair!

We went on a Frank Lloyd Wright walking tour with Kris, Dave and Baby Charlie (although we don't think he's a fan of Frank just yet!). Mary and Mike headed back before the tour got started as Mike had to get back to Minnesota.

We also ate at Nightwood - a yummy organic/sustainable restaurant for Mary's Birthday Dinner - http://www.nightwoodrestaurant.com/about.html - and had the yummiest strawberry shortcake for dessert!

IV and Mary hosted a BBQ one afternoon where we had a chance to meet a lot of  IV and Mary's friends and they had a chance to meet the new addition! Charlie must have been going through withdrawl after we all left since I don't think he was put down for more than 15 minutes ever! He was passed around more than a superbowl football!

Charlie has the two cutest older brother and sister - Eva and Harrison - who are AWESOME! They shower Charlie with affection here are some great shots that showcase their love for the little guy.

Week 26 and now moving into Week 27 we have a Cauliflower on our hands! HerHe is 2 pounds and about as large as a head of Cauliflower...

Our neighbors were kind enough to pass along a beautiful baby crib that has been used by 3 different families and 8 children. The oldest of which is just getting their driver's license! It's perfect and is still in the regulatory guidelines for child crib safety. Having that in the baby room REALLY makes it a reality now! They even had some custom bedding which makes it look super cute!

I'll be sure to post some pics next time! In the meanwhile - this was passed along from our friend Patti - I can only hope our children are this sweet.
